Ahhh I've Joined Twitter AND Instagram- Guess I'm Finally Catching Up With the Modern World!

Hey everyone!

So for years I have protested joining twitter, instagram, any social media that was not facebook lol.  However, in doing this blog I've come to realize I can reach more people by caving in and becoming a functioning member of my generation.  So, with that said, I would LOVE it if you would all follow me on Instagram and Twitter so I can get some followers, and of course I'll follow you back!

Love you all thanks!!

How To: Eyebrow Tutorial

Thick eyebrows seem to be all the rage these days but if you're like me and were born with practically non-existent brows it can seem like you don't have many options.  Doing your eyebrows can be overwhelming as there are so many products out there and if you do it wrong you can end up looking like a clown.  However, filling in your eyebrows will change your face and finish a look in ways you can't even imagine.

When I first started getting really into makeup and playing around with different looks I neglected my eyebrows.  I remember being in a Mac store with my mom and her going "you spend so much time doing everything else, you should really do something with your eyebrows!".   At the time I guess it hadn't even occurred to me/I had no idea what a difference it would make.

Since then I've experimented with a variety of different products to see what gives the best look, and what fills in my brows the best.  They really frame your face and complete your look and now I can't do my makeup without doing them!

I've made a video showing a few different ways you can do your eyebrows, and my suggestions for what to use if you have thin brows, thick brows, or in between.  Hopefully you guys find it useful!

Natural/Earthy Makeup Look

So I did a look using some Mac Pressed Pigments and some of their Pro longwear eye shadows.  I tried to keep the look very natural and earthy so that it's good to wear to the office, or the park or just anywhere you want something very simple.  I used my new Tarte lipstick which was super cool, it changed colors to match the natural tone of my lips.  Very cool!  So check out my video and let me know what you think!!

My Current Obsession: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

I've been a pretty loyal fan of the Buxom mascara for years now, but in starting this blog I obviously needed to try new products.  Thank God I did!  I am beyond obsessed with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.  It is literally the best mascara I have ever used!  It makes your lashes soooo voluminous and full and it only takes a coat or two to do so.  Even the Buxom mascara is nothing compared to this.  It really gives the effect of wearing fake lashes without all the headache that comes with it.

The mascara is only $23 and you can buy it from almost everywhere.  I bought mine at Sephora but they have it at Ulta, Macys, Amazon, you name it.  It's really something everyone should try at least once because you will NOT go back to your old mascara.

Have you guys tried it?  What do you think?

Worst Products I've Purchased

So, I've written a lot of posts about my favorite products, but I decided I'd do a post about my least favorite products, because there's nothing more annoying than spending money on something that you hate.  I try to explain in length in the video why I hate these products, so you can decide for yourself if it's something that would bother you or not.  Check it out!

Spring Makeup

Happy Easter everyone!  In the spirit of the holiday I thought I'd do a bright, vibrant spring look!

So, while I personally love snow, I know most of the rest of the U.S. is ready for summer.  So, with that in mind I decided to make a fun, springy color video showing a look that will look great once the warm weather comes.  I used a lot of my new loose pigments from Mac, as well as some really bold colors that I probably wouldn't have used in the past.  I think what I'm learning through all of this is any color can be used as long as you don't go overboard and you use the right colors to compliment it!  So please check out my spring look and let me know what you think!

MAC Review: Playland

So I somehow (cough) got roped into being one of the first to check out Mac's new 'Playland' collection.  I was impressed and I was also not impressed.  It's a lot of neon's, blues, yellows, greens, colors that are so much fun but not quite as practical for every day use.  Upon entering the store I was beyond impressed/envious of all of the employee's eye shadow looks but none of their makeup would have been practical for work purposes outside a Mac store sadly.

I did however, get a chance to review and purchase a few of these new items!

Firstly, there are the loose pigments.  These I was the most disappointed by because there were so few wearable colors.  The colors were so pretty and would be great for a photo shoot or if you like really bright colors,  I only purchased the Olive Green.  This color was gorgeous and a little more muted than the others so I can definitely incorporate this into my daily use.

The next set was the Mac Playland Pencils.  These can  be used for both lip liners and eye shadow liner.  The pink was just a great color for every day use as a lip liner, same with the peach.  The black kind of surprised me because it was so different than everything else they were offering but it was a great classic black liner.  The blue I LOVED!  It was so vibrant and would add the perfect pop of color to your eyes.

Then there were the lipsticks. All of these, even the bright yellow color were all phenomenal.  They each brought their own unique color to the table and I basically wanted one of all of them.  My favorite was the Happy-Go-Lucky color, it was awesome!

Next, were the Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour, which can be used both as a lip gloss and a blush. I love products that can be used in multiple ways!  Plus these are super moisturizing which of course I love. They were already sold out of one of the colors so sadly I couldn't get it but I loved every color they offered of this.  I purchased the'For Your Amusement' and 'Young At Heart'.

Lastly, they had an amazing line of lip glosses.  I felt as though I owned a lot of similar colors so I didn't purchase as many as I'd wanted but they have an amazing variety.  The yellow one added a really pretty gold tone over any lipstick which I thought was just awesome and came off so nicely.  I loved the 'Lots of Laughs' peach one too, it was so pretty and great for summer!

So those were my thoughts on their new collection.  Have you guys tried it yet?  What'd you think?

Pop of Color Eye Liner

Hey guys!

So sometimes you just want to do something fun, and completely different with your makeup!  I have this beautiful liquid liner from Mac that is this awesome green/blue/turquoise color.  Obviously you have to be to be careful not to go too heavy on the rest of your makeup when doing such a bold look so I did a little tutorial showing how to make your eyes pop without looking like a clown!  Check it out here!

Often times when you work a 9-5 you find yourself going to happy hour after work (or is that just me?).  In those cases you often don't have time to take off and reapply a full face of makeup.  So, there are a few quick things you can do to just kind of update your look from office appropriate to happy hour/date appropriate without looking like you went all out.  Check out the video to see my tips!

Too Faced Boudoir Makeup Palette

Too Faced Cosmetics is rapidly becoming one of my favorite brands out there!  I had only tried a product here or there before I started blogging, and while impressed, I was never blown away.  Those days have changed.  I've gone on and on and on about their amazing bronzer in Chocolate Soleil.  It's too dark for me right now which makes me sad on so many levels but it will probably be the only bronzer I use this summer!

Then, there's the Candlight Glow Highlighting Powder.  This stuff is amazing.  It gives the most beautiful pink/white glow and it's perfect for summer.

Now last time I was in Sephora I came across their eye shadow palettes.  Most Palettes are usually in the $50-60 range but this was in the $20's!  So, I deiced why not?!  And purchased a palette.  I am LOVING it!!!!  I will probably go back and buy a few more.

There are nude palettes, darker palettes, smokey palettes, you name it.  I love them all!  So, check out my video with my first look from the Too Faced Palette and let me know what you think!!

No Mirror Makeup Challenge

I've seen a lot of the YouTube videos with the No Mirror Makeup Challenge Tag and I decided to try it out myself!  It was definitely just as hard as I thought it'd be but it was actually more challenging filming it because I couldn't see if I was even getting myself into the camera.  I managed to get it all on film so check it out below to see how I did!

You should try it too!  It was actually really fun and challenging!

e.l.f Makeup Palette Look

Hey guys!

So I know a lot of the Mac or Sephora makeup I use is unaffordable to a lot of people so I'm workingon adding more drugstore/inexpensive products.  I recently got this e.l.f makeup palette with a ton of eye shadow colors so I thought I'd try out a few different looks.  This was the first look I tried, it's a very basic brown, simple every day look.  I was actually pleasantly surprised at how long the shadow lasted me!  It took a lot of layers to get the pigmentation that I wanted but once I did it lasted me from 9am to 8pm, so not too shabby.

I recently went to an e.l.f. store with a friend of mine and was beyond impressed with their array of products.  The majority of products in the store were $3, nothing more than $10.  There was a variety of colors and so many different options to choose from.  I know e.l.f is also sold at Target, but with less variety and I'm sure at other stores, as well as online.  It's definitely a great choice if you're looking to start a collection without breaking the bank, if you want to try one bold color or if you just need a quick refill.

So, check out my video to see my look and let me know what you think!!

Fun Summery Lip

I'm gearing up for summer so I've been playing around with different lipstick colors, trying to find a fun pink, neon, coral look.  Using a bright pink liner to color in the outside half of my lips, leaving the middle pale.  Then using a coral link pencil you color in the remaining middle of your lips.  I then used a loose pigment in pink to go back over that pink liner and give it some shimmer.  Then I used a yellow pigment to go over the coral because I didn't want it to be too orange, but you could always use an orange pigment as well.  Then I used Vaseline in place of a clear gloss to blend the colors together.

The shadow I'm wearing in the video is from my Mac Brown Pressed Pigment video.

The Mac Haul That Inspired My Patentpolish Lip Pencil Purchase

So this right here is the haul that inspired by previous post/purchasing of the Mac Patentpolish Lip Pencils.  Check out the video to see everything I got!  I posted below a list as well, but I feel like the Mac website does a horrible job of actually representing how the colors look so the video will give you a better idea.  Enjoy!!

Mac Patentpolish Lip Pencil

One word. Amazing.  That right there is really the end of this post.  I walked into the store the other day to check these out and I am soooo beyond obsessed!  They're super moisturizing (although not good to wear over chapped lips with no chapstick underneath as I very unfortunately found out).  They come in the most beautiful array of colors!  Most are very summery, corals and pinks and then there are a few lighter colors as well.  There's really something for everyone.  They're easy to apply, they can be used alone, over lipstick, with lip liners, together, you name it.  You can manipulate the colors by putting different lip liners underneath so that a coral is not so orange, or a pink is not so bright.

The best part is they're a good in-between from a lipstick and a gloss.  They have the shine of the gloss but they add the color of a lipstick, so if you only want to throw one thing in your bag, or if you're like my sister, and hate the stickiness of glosses these are definitely for you!

They come in 12 colors at $20 each and they go on so easily you don't need to use much product to get a great look, which means they'll last a long time.  They twist up so you don't have to worry about sharpening or any of that nonsense.

The colors I purchased were:

Patentpolish Lip Pencil  Teen Dream- This is a beautiful, orange coral shade that's not too bright or in-your-face
Patentpolish Lip Pencil  Go For Girle- This is an awesome hot pink color, that's not too neon but definitely gives your lips a pop!
Patentpolish Lip Pencil  Patent Pink- This is a really pretty light pink shade with hints of lilac.  It looks great with a soft eye or a more nude look

If you're as excited about summer colors as I am, or you just need to update your lip collection, these are definitely for you!!!
