Updated Eyebrow Tutorial

Hey all!

So with my recent purchase of some new Anastasia brow products I decided to do a new tutorial showing the different ways you can do your eyebrows.  There are a variety of different options and it really depends on what your natural eyebrows look like to determine what products would work best for you.

In my video I tried to show all the different options and let you know which eyebrow shapes would work best for whom.

Check out the video and let me know your thoughts.  Do you have any other products that you use for your brows?  Let me know in the comments below!

Tarte Golden Days Sultry Nights Palette

I've been wanting this palette forever, especially since it's been on sale for $24 for a while now, but I've always stopped myself from buying unnecessary eye shadows (and by always I mean never).  Until now.  The other day I went on an all-out Sephora haul and purchased this bad boy.  I am so glad I did!  This palette is amazing!  It comes with 5 gorgeous shades and the pigmentation is super intense so it doesn't wear off during the day.  The only downside to it is the fact that there aren't a ton of looks you can create.

However, this palette would be amazing for summer, I've worn it to work, out at night and just in general.  I love this and am so glad I got it!  Have any of you tried it?  What are your thoughts?

Bobbi Brown Soho Chic Eye Look

The other day in one of my Sephora hauls I decided to purchase the Bobbi Brown Soho Chic Eye Look Palette.  It has mostly smokey colors mixed in with a few neutrals.  I thought I would like it, but I am OBSESSED!  It is just gorgeous!!  The colors are amazing, the pigmentation is super thick so you get a great amount of color and the looks just come out gorgeous!  The only complaint I have is that the color tends to flake and fall down as you apply it so it can be extremely messy.

I made a video using the palette to create a super sexy smokey eye look, let me know what you all think!

Beauty.Com Absolutely SUCKS

Hey all,

So I'm not one to generalize usually, I like to give things the benefit of the doubt and and definitely not one to write off an entire website.  I've written posts and made videos before where I've sung the praises of beauty.com, but after my last experience I will NEVER use them again!

In December I purchased some products from them and received a "free" (and I use that term LOOSELY) with purchase.  It had a few different SAMPLES that they sent that were decent, but nothing amazing.  Honestly, I hadn't even really touched them as none appealed to me that much.  I was much more interested in what I bought.

Having purchased my products online I wasn't sure about the colors and if I would like them but I thought I would try.  I tested the products out and decided which ones I liked.  I returned about the items I received where the colors didn't work or the product itself wasn't worth it.  About a solid month after I returned my items I received this email:

"Since you have returned items Kelly, we would need to have the free gift returned as well, as the inclusion of the free gift was based on your initial purchase. Since your purchase has been returned to stock at your request, you would unfortunately no longer qualify for the free gift.

As the gift was not returned, we would deduct the value of the gift with purchase from your refund amount. Your refund amount would be $123.70, and the value of the gift with purchase is $170.00, so no refund would be due."

Sincerely,

Robyn
Customer Care Specialist

Essentially, since I decided to return products that I had purchased online with no prior trial beauty.com decided to charge me for a "free" gift I had never even asked for.  Not only did they decide to charge me for this free gift, they decided to charge me almost $200 for said "free" gift.

WHAT.A.CROCK.

So now, in order to get a credit for the items I returned, that I no longer have possession of, I have to pay for the postage to return a free gift that I never asked for in the first place.

I have never in my life been faced with such ineptitude.  Sephora, will take  back pretty much anything without asking for samples back.  Mac will give you 45 days and will NOT ask for any samples back.  Ulta, the same.  Pretty much any store you go to, the same.

So now, I have to go find what samples were included because God forbid I forget something and get charged so I can't get my refund.  To say I will never shop at beauty.com again is an understatement.  I am absolutely infuriated and cannot believe this kind of treatment.  What a shitty, half-ass, poorly run store.

My advice:  spend the extra money and purchase at a REAL store, even if it's online.  Avoid beauty.com at all costs!

Makeup Challenge Day 5: Sephora Eye Shadow

Today is my last day of part 1 of the challenge.  I will resume this again in a few weeks with some other brands but unfortunately other circumstances will be preventing me from filming these videos for a bit.  So, for my last challenge of part 1 I used my Sephora brand eye shadow.  Check out the look and my thoughts below!

Makeup Challenge Day 1: Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

For day one of my makeup challenge I decided to use my Smashbox Full Exposure Palette to see how long the shadow would stay on.  I’ve been impressed with the quality of the shadow and the pigmentation so I had fairly high hopes for it.  I don’t want to give any spoilers so check out the video below to see my thoughts!

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish Review

**Please keep in mind, I am by NO means talented at doing my nails, nor do I profess to be any type of expert in this field**

I am not horrible at doing my nails, when I really put my mind to it, but I am also by no means good.  However, I don’t have money to spend to get a manicure every week so I find myself doing them a lot.  Then, I heard about Gel manicures when they first became all the rage and I was so excited!  A manicure that lasts over 2 weeks!  Awesome.  The problem is, these are expensive too, so I’m limited in how often I can afford to splurge on these.  I tried getting the whole kit with the LED light and the top coat and the base coat and all that fun stuff.  Way too complicated for me.  Not only was it really time consuming, I wasn’t good enough at doing my nails that I’d always end up with bumps or just horrible looking nail polish.  That’s why when I saw that Sally Hansen had come out with a simple 2 step, LED free Gel Polish I was SO excited!  I thought this would be the perfect solution to having to do my nails every week and save me some serious manicure money!

I ran out to the store and purchased the top coat and the color ‘Blacky’.  I applied the color Blacky first, it came fine, and only took 2 coats to get a nice even, color.  Then, after it had dried slightly, I applied the top coat.  The top coat again, went on evenly, no bubbles and it seemed to work well.  I got a little around the edges of my nails but it was easy enough to remove.  However, by the next day my nails had begun to chip.  Now, my nails break easily so I don’t have the best canvas or base to begin with, but I would expect more than just one day’s worth.  As the week wore on, the polish began to chip the same as regular polish.  The tips of my nails began to chip away and even some of the base.  I got no more wear out of it than a regular polish, and I might even venture to say less wear.

Now, this is where my disclaimer comes in.  I am not great at painting my nails and I do not have the best nails to work with.  Therefore, this polish might work better on someone with healthier nails or someone who’s better at applying nail polish.  I, however, was not impressed.  For the price I expected way better quality.  I think for the price I’d rather stick with my classic Essie and O.P.I polishes.

My Top 10 Favorite Pink Blushes & Lipsticks

Hey everyone!

So, as October comes to a close, I thought I'd do a little video showing my top 10 favorite pink lipsticks and blushes in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.  I'm a huge fan of pink products in general so there were a lot of choices to pick from, but these are definitely my favorite!  Let me know what you think!

Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick Colour Review

I recently purchased the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour set from Sephora.  I was intrigued by the fact that these were cream eyeshadows that you basically colored on. Cream shadows can be difficult because if they're not made well they can crease and look horrible on your lids.  I generally have liked every Laura Mercier product that I've tried so I thought I'd give these a shot.  I'm glad that I did.  These are incredibly well made cream shadows.  I wore them for over 12 hours, came home and it looked as though I had just applied them.  The set that I got came with 4 different colors, a dark brown, a purple shade, a bronze shade and a champagne shade.  I created a look using 3 of them and loved it.

Another great thing about this product is that it doesn't take much to get a nice, pigmented shade.  The darker brown color I used in the crease I barely used any and got an incredible rich, chocolate brown crease color.  Even the shades I used on my lids took very little shadow to apply.

The set of 4 costs $38 or you can buy them individually for $28.  Obviously the set of 3 are smaller than the individual but it's a great set with some gorgeous shades. There are 10 different shades, everything from golds to purples to nudes to browns.  All of the shades are gorgeous and there are so many different looks you can get from them.

Overall I would highly recommend these, even to those people who aren't big fans of cream shadows like myself.  There really wasn't any downside that I saw to these, even after so many hours of wear.  Great product overall!

Here's my video so you can see what they look like!

Sigma Haul

Sigma has amazing brushes, they're really comparable to a lot of the higher end brand brushes and they're reasonably priced.  I haven't heard much about their makeup products though.  So, I decided to try some of their makeup products and see what I think.  I would say I was split on the products.  The liners I hated, which I'll explain in the video, but the cream shadows I loved.  Check out the video for more!

Sephora Haul

Hey!

So I know a lot of my products are Mac, because prior to doing this I just purchased what I loved.  Since then I've branched out and started to love other brands.  I decided to do another Sephora Haul recently to try out some new non-Mac products and see what I thought.  Check out the video below.  For a lot of the kits I have longer videos explaining them coming up so look for those, but this is the general overview.  Hope you enjoy!!

Smashbox Full Exposure Palette Review

Hey!

So I recently purchased the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette during one of my Sephora hauls.

I'm not generally a huge  fan of Smashbox products, I find most of them to be really disappointing, but I was intrigued by the range of colors in this palette.  It offers a wide range of both matte and shimmer shadows.  There were 7 mattes and 7 shimmers ranging from light champagne to black.

There are also plenty of neutral colors to choose from which you can never have too many of.  The palette itself was fairly reasonably priced at only $49.  I tried out a few looks and found that my eye shadow lasted all day.  It didn't stay on quite as well as my Mac shadows do but it stayed well enough that I wouldn't complain.  The one thing I did find frustrating was that it took a few coats to get the amount of shadow that I wanted.  I wouldn't have minded it being a little more pigmented.  Below are a few swatches I took of the shadows.

Shimmers:

Mattes:

The palette also comes with a great brush and a sample of their mascara.  I absolutely loved the brush, it has 2 sides, one for the lids and one for the crease.  The side for the lids had a more packed side for picking up extra color and a less packed side for a lighter dusting.  The mascara it came with I wasn't as impressed by, it was good for coating the bottom lashes but it didn't do anything miraculous that would make me purchase it.  Still, it was a nice extra to come with.

Check out my video below to hear more of my thoughts and see the palette!

My Top 10 Picks for Fall Eye Shadows

I'm loving the fall eye shadow colors!  There are so many gorgeous browns, bronzes, golds and really warm colors that can make your otherwise dull winter skin really pop!  I'm a huge fan of using all of the colors I mentioned as well as using shimmery colors.  Using something with a bit of a shimmer or shine just gives an extra oomph to your eyes and plays really nicely against a matte finish.  After extensive, laborious (lol) research I've picked these 10 shades as my top 10 fall eye shadows.  Let me know what you think!

1.
MAKE UP FOR EVER - Artist Shadow
Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow- Pinky Earth
This is a gorgeous cranberry, shimmery brown, great for making all eye colors pop

2.
Urban Decay - Eyeshadow
Urban Decay- Half Baked
This is a gorgeous shimmery gold color with a hint of bronze to it.  It looks especially beautiful on blue eyes

3.

NARS - Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow
NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow- Subra
This is a gorgeous plum, shimmery color that looks amazing on the lids as well as in the crease.  All of their Dual-Intensity shadows are gorgeous this season!

4.

NARS - Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow
NARS- Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow- Dione
This shadow is a beautiful champagne, beige color that looks amazing on all eye colors.  It's so nude and effortless it really makes eyes pop
5.
Bobbi Brown - Eye Shadow
Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow- Mahogany Dark Ash Brown
It's easy to love the shimmery and metallic colors, but you can't get the full effect  of those without a few matte colors!  This color by Bobbi Brown is perfect for creating a gorgeous contrast to any of the colors I mentioned above, and brown is so neutral it goes with almost anything.  Also, this particular shade is dark enough to create a smokey impact but also able to be blended out for just a hint of brown.

6.

Dior - Diorshow Fusion Mono Long-Wear Professional Mirror-Shine Eyeshadow
DIOR Diorshow Fusion Mono Long-Wear Professional Mirror-Shine Eyeshadow- Millennium
This is a gorgeous gold color with hints of green.  It's super metallic so it really makes your eyes pop and brings out the natural color.  It goes on smoothly and you can really layer it to get as much or as little of an impact as you like.

7.

Laura Mercier - Baked Eye Colour - Wet/Dry
Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour- Wet/Dry Hot Chocolate
This color is phenomenal because of it's versatility. You can add water or fix spray to your brush to get a wet, creamy look or you can apply as it to get a gorgeous finish.  Either way this color is so neutral it looks great on all eye colors.

8.

MAC Cosmetics: Eye Shadow in Cranberry
Mac Eyeshadow- Cranberry
This color is just beyond gorgeous.  It's a purple, burgundy color that is the epitome of fall.  It compliments almost every color you pair it with and it has the most gorgeous finish.
MAC Cosmetics: Eye Shadow in Cranberry

9.

MAC Cosmetics: Eye Shadow in Swiss Chocolate
Mac Eyeshadow- Swiss Chocolate
This color is a great, neutral brown.  It's a perfect crease color for creating definition and deepening eyes.  It's definitely worth getting if you're a fan of neutrals.
MAC Cosmetics: Eye Shadow in Swiss Chocolate

10.
Shiseido - Shimmering Cream Eye Color
Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color- Sable
This gorgeous color goes on so smooth and creamy and lasts all day.  It has hints of gold, taupe and green to create a subtle, yet striking look.

So those are my favorite fall shadows....what are yours?!

I Think This May Be My Favorite Look of All Time....

So I mentioned yesterday in my Mac Haul post that I was OBSESSED with my new Sassy Moss Fluidline.  It's just the most gorgeous green, gold color ever!  It's made to be a liner but I used it all over my lid for an amazing, beautiful pop of color!  I actually wore this look to work and didn't feel like I had too much makeup on or looked like I was headed to the club.  It just was so beautiful, so much fun and so different than my normal look!

I promised I'd make a video showing my look as I mentioned how obsessed with it I was :) I did, so check it out below!
