Gold/Navy Eye Look

I usually do a smokey eye with purple or black so I decided to experiment with navy.  I think navy eye shadow looks great on people with blue or green eyes especially, so if you have either of those try experimenting with this look.  I found adding a little gold really complimented the blue and adding some depth to the look.

Check out my video to see the look!

My Current Obsession: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner is my current obsession.  I love the look of liquid eyeliners but I find that they often end up smudging or disappearing throughout the day so I usually just stick with my Mac Fluidline Gel Liner.  On my latest trip into Sephora I was trying out a few different liquid eyeliners and stumbled across this beauty.  This is the most amazing liquid eyeliner!  It lasts all day, doesn’t smudge and goes on so smoothly!  It’s super easy to apply and it takes a few seconds to set so if you wanted to smudge it you could do so.

It comes in this little black tube with a pointed tip, great for throwing in your purse or makeup kit.  The super skinny tip makes it easy enough for beginners to apply if you haven’t used a lot of liquid liner products and you don’t have to use a brush like with the gel liners.  It also gives a shinier finish than a gel or a pencil which come off as more matte.  It’s also waterproof (as the name indicates) so it doesn’t budge if you wanted to wear it during a hot day or even to the beach.

In general I really like Stila products, they’re good quality and I’ve always been happy with what I’ve picked up.  This eyeliner comes in 15 different awesome colors so I definitely plan on picking up a few more!

Makeup For Teens

Starting out with makeup can be intimidating.  I remember not knowing really what to do and making manyyyy, manyyyy mistakes along the way.  There was the way too much eyeliner, not applying in my crease, wearing too much, wearing too little; you name it.

So, I made the below video to help out teens just starting to wear makeup.  I think the key to makeup that's often overlooked by the young is that less is more.  That's not an easy lesson to learn because it seems counter-intuitive but I swear, the less you wear the more your natural beauty shines.  (That's so cheesy...sorry lol)

So please check out my video and see my tips and tricks for teens!

Favorite Mac Eyeshadows

Mac Cosmetics is my absolute favorite line!  I think that the majority of their products are just amazing and the quality is always amazing and I'm never disappointed.  Out of all of their products I'm most loyal to their eye shadows.  I've compiled a list here of my favorites, trying to include both some neutrals, as well as some of their brighter colors.

Check out my video to see my thoughts on my favorite colors here:

Neutrals:

1.) Mylar-  It's a simple, matte white color that's great for highlighting your brow

2.) Phloof-  This is a super shimmery white color that's great for highlighting and adding a pop of shimmer

3.) Naked Lunch- This is my favorite color in the whole wide world!  It's a beautiful nude, champagne color that's a great base, it makes your eyes pop without being too colorful or out-there

4.) Kid- This is a great transition color.  It's a soft brownish color that's very neutral and great for transitioning shades in your crease
5.) Quarry- This is a beautiful light purple/grey color that goes on great in the crease to add some definition

6.) Espresso- This is a dark brown color that's great for adding dimension and drama to your crease

Fun Colors-

7.) Sketch- This is an AWESOME purple, shimmery color that goes great in your crease and adds depth

8.) Idol Eyes- This is a shimmery, light purple color that's fun for doing a purple smokey eye, or adding a pop of color to any look

9.) Scene- This is a grey color that's great for both smokey eyes, as well as using in the crease to add some drama

10.) Carbon- This is a simple black matte color.  Great for smokey eyes, great for any look you want a really dark black with

11.) Black Tied- This is similar to Carbon but has some blueish, silver shimmer to it, so it's more frosted than carbon

12.) Greensmoke- This is a dark green color with hints of gold that is fun for doing a different smokey eye than the traditional blacks

5 Minute Makeup Look

I absolutely LOVE doing makeup (obviously...).  I love getting ready, I love taking hours doing my hair and makeup and perfecting my look, I love trying new looks, I love trying new makeup; I love it all.  What I don't love, nay, DESPISE, is waking up.  And morning.  And basically any hour before noon.  (If it were up to me, work would just be whenever your body naturally wakes you up, until like 4pm).  So, while I always fantasize about being the hot girl in my office with the perfect makeup and hair, I'm usually the hot mess in the pony tail.  I have, however, figured out the perfect 5 minute makeup look that allows me to look as though I did not just roll out of bed 10 minutes ago (which I usually just did).  It's super simple, only involves a few eye shadow shades, and really is very easy to customize to your own needs.  So, in that vein, I created a video this past weekend showing my 'Get Ready With Me Look'.  Check out my video below!

What are your favorite, easy morning looks?

How I Whiten My Teeth

I'm a big coffee drinker, and an even bigger red wine drinker, both of which can wreak havoc on your teeth!  As a result I try to whiten my teeth as often as possible.  I've used most of the store-brand products out there, Crest Stips, Colgate, the one where you actually paint it on your teeth.  While most work temporarily I've found that they cause so much sensitivity that I end up usually tossing them, or leaving them on the shelf until they've gone bad.

Last year for Christmas my mom actually got me this kit called "Ultra-White".  The whitening effects of the product last far longer than any of the drugstore brands I've tried, and I really only have to use it once or so a week.  The kit is expensive at first.  They send you the necessary products to make a mold of your mouth and you mail it so they can send you back retainer-like pieces specially fitted to your mouth.  They also send you 6 tubes full of the whitening product.  I've found the tubes usually last a few months as you don't need more than a drop or two to get the full effect.   You put the whitening gel in the retainer, leave it on your mouth for up to an hour and then voila! you're done.

Now, this can also be incredibly painful for sensitive teeth like mine, however, I learned the most amazing trick ever!  Before you put the container in, put tons of Vaseline over your gums.  I kid you not, this will stop your gums from burning or any painful sensation that comes from the whitening gel.  It's kind of messy obviously, but if you've experienced the pain of whitening your teeth you'll know it's worth.  So, slather that on, throw in the retainers and then do something for the next 45 mins to an hour while your teeth magically whiten.

I love this stuff! I think it's a great alternative to the store- brand as it just lasts longer than any of the other products I've tried.  You can purchase it here at their website http://www.ultra-white.com/ and as I mentioned it will last you a while so you won't have to constantly spend money replacing them.

What are your guy's favorite teeth whitening products?  Does anyone have any other tips or tricks for avoiding sensitivity?

I Need This In Every Color and Every Style....NOW

I am a HUUUGE fan of summer.  I love the snow and winter but I'll take a relaxing day at the beach over the cold of NY any day.  I usually buy some cheap cover up from H&M or somewhere that lasts me one season, pills and then I have to toss.  Not only is it frustrating it's a huge waste of money!! Plus, I'm usually surrounded by girls in super cute cover ups and I feel like I'm wearing a muumuu.

I've tried a variety of different stores from H&M, to Forever 21, even Victoria's Secret but I always find the quality is the same and I have to toss it at the end of the season.

Then I stumbled on this gem....

MAAJ Boutique

http://www.maajboutique.com/

Even the homepage of the website makes me want to be on vacation.  Every one of the pieces is beautifully hand made which means no one will have the same the piece as you.  I recently wore my new cover-up on my trip to the Bahamas and I'm not kidding when I say I had at least 6 people ask me where I got it.  I was skeptical of the price because, obviously if it wasn't going to last like the other cover-ups I'd purchased in the past, I didn't want to spend the money.  Not only did it last me the entire trip, it still looks brand new.  Also, I was nervous about the washing thinking it would be a whole big ordeal but it actually proved just as easy to wash as anything else I own.

Being a super huge fan of all things pink I started my collection with the 'Majorca Sequined Ombre Kaftan'.  It is literally probably one of the prettiest pieces I own.  I would wear it to work if that wouldn't be such a faux pas hahaha.

Now that I have this piece I'm currently lusting after the 'Corfu Zig Zag Beaded Kaftan' and the 'Musha Cay Beadwork Kaftan'.

The best part is I read that they're launching their new collection soon so I can't even imagine what their new line will look like.  I could not be more excited about this boutique and now obviously have to plan more vacations so I can wear my new pieces!! My job will totally understand :)

What do you guys think?  Has anyone purchased any pieces?  I'm obsessed!
