Makeup Mistakes We've All Been Guilty Of (Myself Included!)

It's incredibly easy to make makeup mistakes!  Whether you're a beginner, in bad lighting, or just unsure about the proper techniques to emphasize your look you can definitely negate all of the positive effects of makeup.  I made this below video trying to think of all the mistakes that I know that are fairly common.  There's the usual, too much blush, too much eye shadow etc. and then I tried to include some less commonly known mistakes, like using a shimmery bronzer to contour.

Even if you don't care about makeup mistakes you should watch this video just to see how hysterical I look by the end of it.  I look like Two-Face from Batman hahaaha.  Enjoy!

It's About to Be Bikini Season! Check Out These Awesome YouTube Workout Videos I Found!!

So it’s finally starting to be spring!  And while I may be the only person left in the states who wouldn’t hate another snow storm, I know most of you are excited.  That being said, now is the time that a lot of people like to kick it into high gear with their workouts.  Gyms in NY are roughly $5 billion dollars a year so they can be difficult to swing if you’re counting your pennies.  Which is exactly why YouTube is amazing!  I’ve done a few workouts on there and there are 2 that I am absolutely obsessed with.   Both can be done in the comfort of your home, both challenge you and make you sweat, both make you have that amazing sore the next day and both only require a yoga mat!

The first is Blogilates (or you can search Pop Pilates).  It is taught by Cassey Ho, who is really just phenomenal.  She has a wide variety of videos from beginner to advanced, as well as videos that target specific areas of your body, if you’re just looking to tone.   She is phenomenal about explaining things, and giving alternative moves if a particular exercise is a little too advance to do the full move.  I try to do her videos at least a few times a week!  They’re short, so you can probably do 2-3 a day and trust me, the next day you will feel it!  Check out her YouTube channel here https://www.youtube.com/user/blogilates

The second, which I just found and am obsessed with is DoYouYoga.Com.  This channel is amazinggg too!  It’s taught by Erin Motz, who is just so great.  All of the moves focus intently on the breathing, and she has a very calming voice that can help while your legs and arms scream in pain J  The videos are amazing though.  The best part is she offers a 30 Day Yoga Challenge.  You sign up at their website here http://www.doyouyoga.com/challenge/ and they’ll email you daily yoga videos, increasing in challenge every video.  The first few you’re like ‘oh…this is easy’, by the 5th you’re like ‘sweet Jesus, take me now’ lol, but it’s TOTALLY worth it.  It’s great too because it’s never the same moves so you don’t get bored doing the same thing over and over.  These videos are short as well so you can do 1 a day or you can do a few.  I highly recommended it!  This the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/DoYouYoga

Let me know if you guys try any of these!  What do you think?

My Favorite Products: Tarte Smooth Operator™ Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder

Hey guys!

So this product was introduced to me by my beauty-obsessed friend Angela, and I LOVE it.  It this amazing, light weight, transluscent powder that you apply over your makeup to set it in place.  I use it in the majority of my videos after I've applied a liquid or cream foundation.  It's so lightweight and it transforms your makeup from that tacky feeling you get to almost as if you'd used a powder.  You don't need to use much of this product so it last forever!

The other part (that I in particular love) is it sops up any oil.  Living in NY walking around during the summer is a nightmare, especially if you even pretend to try and wear makeup.  It immediately melts off your face and you're left with oil and sweat and nothing remotely sexy looking.  This is where this beauty comes in.  Throw this in your purse (I prefer the lose powder but there is a pressed powder that I'm planning on getting for the summer) and apply once you've gotten to your air-conditioned location of choice.  It really is amazing.  Any traces of oil or sweat or grease are gone instantaneously.

I would seriously recommend this makeup for anyone who has serious sweating issues in the summer, oily skin at any time of year or who enjoys liquid/cream foundations.  It is completely worth the investment!

What A Jip: Benefit Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer

Hey guys!

Anyone who knows me knows I have gone on a serious treasure hunt search for the perfect primer.  I just want something that smooths my skin, minimizes pores and MOST IMPORTANTLY keeps my makeup in place!!! I've found the Laura Mercier primer to be amazing and I've talked extensively about it in my videos.  I was reading someone's blog the other day and saw this product.  After doing a little research I found this product was getting relatively good reviews all around.  I'm not sure who's reviewing this but this product is HORRIBLE.  I'm not one to spend all day re-applying, or fixing this or that; I want a primer that keeps everything in place so there are minimal things I need to fix when I refresh my makeup.

After reading the reviews on this I was so excited to find a primer that would keep my makeup on "all day".  I purchased it from Sephora, applied it excitedly to my face and was beyond disappointed to find a few hours later my makeup was completely gone.  I gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe I'd touched my face a lot that day (still not an excuse for a GOOD primer, but whatever) and tried it again.  I tried this product for over 2 weeks.  Every day, without fail, by like 1pm my face makeup was gone.  I was so disappointed in this primer I can't even say.  A lot of primers claim to minimize pores, or brighten skin, etc. but this one promised to keep makeup in place.  Lies.  Also, let's discuss the $38 price tag.  Vom.

So, this is my "Shame, Shame, Shame" product of the month.  Boo to this, definitely not the primer you want if you're looking for something that keeps your makeup in place!

Have any of you tried this?  What do you think?
